I went to start my 90 suburban and I turned the key and it wouldn't turn over and the check engine light didn't even come on. I went to put it in neurtral to roll it in the garage and I hit reverse and the check engine light came on and it started right. I figured that it was just gonna happen once so I drove it around stooping and starting the motor for about 4 hours with no problem and it stopped in traffic. I pushed it in a parking lot and waited for a friend to come tow me home and she got there and it started right up. I haven't drove it since then but I do need to get it fixed seens how it's my only source of transportation, so any sugestions of what the problem may be would be greatly apreaciated

Could be 1000 different things. I'd start with this though. Do you have power to the radio and other accessories when the key is on and this is happening?

I had a similar problem with my truck, it would turn over i had to wait a while and try many times.

So i had to change the ignition switch and check the saterter too.

Couple things come to mind. If it were only a matter of not starting until you slightly moved the shifter then i would suspect a park/neutral safety switch either bad or out of adjustment. If you're driving and it dies like someone reached over and turned the ignition off then i highly suspect a bad ignition module. The ignition modules on GM vehicles have been a notorious problem for years, i keep a spare in the rig just because of this.

Nope I don't have any power to anything and the gauges don't jump either.

Start off checking the fuseable links at the starter. You could be loosing power to the cab. Check to see if you have power at the "BAT" terminal on your fuse panel when everything quits.
