so i haven't needed a key to start the truck since i got it but finally its breaking down and leaving me stranded. if i hit the key and repeatedly try starting it usually starts up after a couple mins of bad words... not fun. so i remember reading something like a year ago and someone went in depth on how to tear the column apart.. was wondering if someone could search and try finding that article. thank you ahead of time.

what rig are you running? chevy columns are pretty easy, i think the last one i replaced in a 89 chevy truck took less than an hour to take out drive to the parts store pick up the new part and put it in.

same for my 86 blazer and 90 suburban

just get a steering wheel puller and take it slow its pretty straight forward

i found the best way to make sure the nut is on tight enough is to mark the nut to the column so when you tighten it they line up.
