Guys, I have a new lockset so that I can change my ignition (key gets stuck, I have tried lube already). I cannot figure out how to get the damn thing out of the dash, I have changed out the doors and glovebox already but am stumped on the ignition, are there any tips out there? Also, I am not sure what the tiny allen key does?? :dunno::dunno::dunno:

Thanks guys

EDIT

my bad, i guess i should have read his signature for the vehicle info instead of the lacking info in the main question :D :doah: :tongue1:

Think his is a 72. I believe the little bezel is notched and you turn it counter clockwise. Never done it though..

It sucks to get off. You have to remove the chrome ring on the outside of the dash as noted by chalet2506. I don't remember an allen key, but I didn't put a new ignition in either.

No sweat man, I did do some searching before posting but I think it pulled up about 72,432 results for ignition and for replace I think I got about 189,569 hits.
I could have probably been a little clearer in my question but I was headedout and wanted to get it up quick, my bad on that.

Its a 72' K5 with the ignition in the dash, I guess I am lacking the motor skills to get that damn thing out of the dash....Send help.............

Thanks man, great link, it was a cinch.

For all that are curious,

1. Put key in and turn to Auxilary (Left)
2. Insert paper clip or something small into the tiny hole next to the key
3. Push the tiny tool in and pull the ignition out using the key (at the same time)
