Who makes an idiot proof electronic ignition kit that I can put on my '81 K5. I have a 305 now but intend to put a 350 in within the next couple of months.

You can use all the stuff out of your 305.
Or if you want to upgrade get a DUI Blazer pics

nothing wrong with stock HEI

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

I agree with Dorian... nothing wrong with HEI unless you plan for over 4500 rpm. I run an MSD offrad ignition that works well, but I would recomend getting a MSD coil, new hi-performance MSD or Taylor wires, and new plugs gapped at .055 or .060

The DUI distributor is also a nice item with good wires and plugs

MSD all the way. Thats what I have on my 85 and I love it. Just use the set up CaptCrunch described (same thing I have) and it will pep your rig up.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

I've used the stock HEI and replaced the module with an MSD module and put in the MSD coil. It's a cheap up-grade ($100.00 or less) and works like a champ.
