Hello crazy K5ers so I need some help. The PO hotwired a line from the dizzy to the ignition because he couldn’t get it to fire. I’ve attached a photo to explain what I mean. I wanna fix the issue and do away with the hot wire. Under the dash I have the hot wire connected to I’m assuming the key ignition wire. In the pic you will see the hot wire the hot wire that runs from the dizzy to inside under the dash. The K5 is an 86 but has a late 70’s 350 but the distributor is the one from the 86. What’s happening and how do I fix it? Also what are the extra wires I’ve attached in the pics? I’m trying to find the hot wire for the choke and have no idea which is which. Thanks for any help. And ask questions if this is confusing.

I just found this wire which looks like the original ignition wire that was spliced. ??

That looks like the original end hooked to the distributor. As if they just cut it off. So I believe that you will have to check for continuity between the chopped off wire and the ignition switch. Possibly check it at the firewall where it goes into the back of the fuse panel. Maybe the ignition switch was having problems?
I don't know what the other plug and wires are for.

Brown plug I believe will be your oil pressure gauge sender wire.

I'd just check that cut wire for 12V with key on, then key off. Will tell you real quick if it's the right one. However, as mentioned, if there was an ignition switch issue that caused someone to cut the wire, you might find out once you get it wired back up properly. No biggie, just be ready.
