I'll be in Reno Nevada for Hot August Nights

If anyone attends the annual Hot August Nights HUGE car show in Reno I'll be working the MSD booth in the convention center then enjoying the festivities in the evenings...

If anyone will be there stop in and say hello!

My bud has been attending that show for many many years. Sounds like a cool show. I may try to go to it this year. If I make it I will stop by and say hello. I sure don't need to see a bunch of bad ass custom cars that will want to make me want to get back into hot rodding though. :D

The last time I was at Hot August Nights was 1994 when they had the big riot. Might have to see about showing up this year. I have an aunt who lives 60 miles north of Reno and i'm sure I could stay at her place as you can't even come close to finding a room for under $300.00/night. What are the dates this year?
 
I fly in on August 2nd and out August 8th. The vendor show in the convention center will be from Wednesday the 3rd to Saturday the 7th.

I hope you make it Scott... I'd love to have a beer.

If I do go it would be RootBeer as I don't drink. :D

My stepson is here that weekend (7th-8th) so maybe we will just drive up for the day/evening and then drive home late saturday night.

Shoot me a PM with your cell number so if I do make it up there I can call you and find you easily.

Damn, there was an original A&W Rootbeer place up there on the corner of Kietzke/Plumb but it's been gone for a long time now and it was THE PLACE to cruise over the weekend of Hot August Nights. The best cruising/hangout recently is in downtown Sparks.
 
I'll be staying at the Grand Sierra Hotel and Casino. Last year there were cars in the parking lot every night and a concert every night. One night they had a huge car cruise too where all the cars from other spots came there.

It's a great time.
 
Well, me and my brother are going this year. We don't have a classic car, but we show up to see other cars. Every year we go, I can't help but think how much cooler it would be to cruise our own car during Hot August Nights.

Is this the last year it will be in Reno? Its going to my home town Long Beach, not sure if its next year or 2012. Cool to have it close, sucks to take it out of its long time spot.

Where did you ever hear this? AFAIK it is not going to change location. Maybe your city is going to start one as well though. I know Redding, Ca. started what is called Cool April Nights a while back and from what I hear it has become bigger and better than Hot August Nights ever has (I haven't attended yet so I have no idea).

Found the info.

In 2011, Hot August Nights will run from August 3 through 14 with the Event opening in
Long Beach, CA followed by South Lake Tahoe, both of them being held prior to the Reno
Sparks Event. This new structure will allow participants to literally cruise from the Pacific​
Ocean to the High Sierra’s.

So Long Beach, Ca. will be the OPENER for the final event ending in Reno, Nv. with South Lake Tahoe after the Long Beach event.

My local paper made it out to seem that it was moving to Long Beach. I was wondering how the hell they would ever manage to pull that off. WooHoo!!! Hotrod road trip! Sorry for the scare.

Phil, I will be making Reno so expect a call from me once i'm in town and relax a little.
 
My "plan" is to leave home around 6:00am on saturday the 7th and that should put me in Reno about 9:45am.

Isn't the convention center next to the college? I'll have to search I guess. The Lawlor event center is where everything "used" to happen anyways.
