I wondering if anybody out there know how to make the windshield wipers go faster then the highest setting then in stock form.:ears::k5: I'm all ears . I've heard that you can either apply more power to the motor but not sure how to or what to tap into to get the extra power from. I know someone out there is a mudd runner as well and hopefully ya will know.
And is there anyone on this site that is from VA. beach area lookin to find people with fullsize rigs to go wheelin with. And if the guy that gave he the helpful advise on how to finish my clutch that I was having so much trouble with I thank you very much.

hmm...maybe try and weld a tiny bar onto the little circle that spins for the wiper linkage and attach the linkage to that? because the outside of a circle spins faster then the inside(smaller) part of the circle so that would pull the linkage back faster? but maybe the wiper might move to far then...haha well maybe this will help somehow,i dont no:D:rolleyes:

It might be worth running heavy wire (10 gauge?) right from the alternator to a relay mounted on the firewall and use that to power the wiper motor (relay controlled by the existing wiper power supply). This will give more voltage than all of the factory wiring and switches - similar to the common headlight relay mod.

You can also use a 2, 4 or 6V gel cel battery in series with the wiper motor. At about a 6V boost, you have doubled the power in the motor - I don't know how long it will last.

when i was all about mud, i used to carry a squeegie and just stuck my arm out the window. my friend thought it was funny...until he had to ask to borrow my squeegie. our mud is too thick and heavy to use the wipers. it would break them or burn up the motor.

how about installing a wiper motor from a newer model truck? my 82 k5 has 2 settings but my 94 c1500 has 10 or something.

what about two motors? one for each wiper? would take a little while to fab up should do good. or if you really want to get crazy. just rig up some kinda electric motor to attach to the arm. shouldnt really be that big of a deal.

i think if you go any faster though the blades will probably break

The only way you can get more speed out of your wipers is to put two powerful motors, one for each blade. Make them heavy duty so that they will hold up under the abuse, with some heavy gauge wire, too.

The factory motors are wired directly to the battery in the power distribution center (fuse panel) and it only goes slower or on a delay by putting resistors in the circuit to reduce the voltage to the motor. Adding batteries in series will only blow the motor up.

Two motors is a good idea, but you still need the linkage between them to keep the two blades in sync.

How about PTO? The faster you rev, the faster they wipe!

i think thats how buses are, because the both wipers turn on one after the other and sometimes go at slightly different speeds.

the wipers on my '88 k5 move pretty slow as well when at full speed, we've have some pretty serious downpours and i couldnt see for chit and had to pullover for a couple minutes til it died down
