my truck runs great. starts up fine. goes down the road. then all of a sudden it starts losing power. it sputters and spits. i give it gas nothing happens. the next second its roaring back to life and it goes back to what it was doing. i have no clue whats happening. i have replaced the inline fuel filter, intake filter, map sensor, vacuum line to the map sensor. it will do this when the engine is cool and cold. the next thing i can think of id the distibutor cap and rotor. any ideas?

what year is it, have you modified the fuel system at all eg fuel cell, if it is older than 87 then is the carb a rochester or has it been swapped out for some holley crap? does the truck start and idle fine? when you rev the engine what happens? does it only do this under load? I will try and help, but I need some info first.
gabe

I had a truck that would do that because my fuel pump was cutting out. But like Gabe said "we need info"

its fuel injected because he said he replaced the map sensor, my truck does this once in a blue moon i never figured it out, but if it doesnt act up u cant figure it out.

The AFPR is worthless without a fuel pressure gauge and you need one anyway, so get the gauge first.

This problem could also be the ignition module.

If its HEI ignition which I have no idea if late models still use my $.02 says its a failing ignition module. Everytime Ive had one go bad it would start to loose power, backfire, sputter etc and just die, after it cooled down it would fire up and go for a ways and repeat.

do u think that the adjustable fuel regulator from cfm is worth buying?

If you're careful about it you can make the stock one adjustable for free (they are adjustaable from the factory but then GM decided to braze them closed so you can't mess with it. Besides, the adjustable regulator does not come with a new diaphragm.

no everything is stock. the fuel pump is brand new also. this is a 1994 silverado with 350. it has EFI or TBI i dont know like to find out. yes the truck will start and idle fine untill it decides its time to have a fit. it has died once, but once it dies i can fire it right back up. as for under a load, no it will do it at a stop light, at an idle, and going down the road.
