I'm Back!!!

Looks like you had a LOT of fun! Did you load the Blazer on the chunnel train to get it over to France? Awesome scenery!

And I can't even imagine what fuel must have cost for that trip...

Yeah we took the 'chunnel' train. First time for me. It was really easy and fast. France in 30 minutes and straight onto a 'peage' (toll road, turnpike).
Their toll roads are empty, smooth and fast. Lots of rest areas and gas stops. Puts my country to shame!
We haven't added up the fuel bills yet but I'm thinking something like £600
to £700. I was getting about 300 miles to the tank cruising at 70 to 80 mph but when we hit the hills/mountains you can knock 100 miles off that range easily. When we were actually wheelin' it just disapeared!

well on flat land my rig gets 15 mpg holding it at 60 mph in the hills of PA I got 12.5 mpg at 60 mph.

So I feel ya on the 2mpg when wheeling

$1,200 is really not any more than you would spend on plane tickets and a rental car for a week. That's why I love driving on trips, I get to see a lot more and have my rig which gets into places that no rental dares to go.

Exactly! I've no complaints over expenses. I'm fortunate enough to be able to do this once in a while, so I do.
The drive was great if tiring. I've seen 2000 miles of a country I would've missed if I'd flown, and how could I have done what I did in a rent Exploder?
I knew it would cost something like this and I'm ok with it.:D

I am leaving tomorrow for a week in Az and Mn. Crawling, camping, climbing and skiing. Me and a friend in the Burb. We calculate that for every $.01 that the price of gas drops, we will save $4.00. It went down $.05 this week here, so I invested my savings in a bottle of bourbon.;)

Cool, have a good trip and stay safe!:D

OK here's some more. Just me and Jayne, beautiful countryside and one hell of a great truck.:D

Sweet pics! I thought they weren't getting any snow?

Good pics of your K5, too. I don't think I'd seen that many before. Too bad they don't have a ferry to the States so you could come over for Blazer Bash.

You must have had one of the more unique rigs there just because of the make and model.

Did you notice any of the affects of altitude?

I'll just come and wheel with you in your rig one day!:D
There was a beatiful early Bronco there but he missed the first day and wasn't seen after the morning briefing on the second day. The truck looked great but looked very freshly built so maybe he had problems.
Funny, we did notice some weird headaches. Very slight but very sharp. We drank lots as you suggested. We put it down to different pressures as we were up and down the mountains everyday. They weren't bad, just unusual.

My brother-in-law had the same problem everytime he visited my parents when they were living at 2mile elevation. He basically had to nap with an oxygen concentrator and then he was fine. None of the other tricks worked. Some people seem to be more affected than others.

The guy with the early bronco was probably like my neighbor that owns a nice one and he was afraid to get it dirty or scratched.

You're welcome to come ride along anytime, in Moab or here around Colorado. :waytogo:

those are some great pictures. I like this one the most. I copied a couple to my computer so they would show up on the screen saver.

Oh man, this lake was way down at around 1200 metres elevation but it was sooooooo cold! And the wind chill was a killer. It was beautiful though.:D
