I'm bowing out of the truck scene.....

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

I'm sure you'll get lots of comments on your purdy RC car.."Hey, cool car. Where did you buy it?" Not like the 4x4 when you can say you built it and drive over Honda's and climb hills and such but I guess jumping a remote control car over a ramp or doing donuts in the dirt is cool too /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Good luck with all the $100 upgrades to the RC car too. They will break more than your 4x4

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

Ya gotta do, what ya gotta do! I too was obsessed with R/C cars...then I got a driver's license...but now I wish I had some spare coin to get back into that hobby...

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

Wes,

You are trading one expensive hobby for another expensive hobby. The thing you will find out after building an RC truck, you will have a bunch of money into a toy and in your location - I don't see to many hobby stores around!!! I guess you could do your business all through mail-order. Anyway, take it from me - I raced "Gas" trucks in St. Louis and had well over $1000 in everything, plus continuously bought spare parts and so on. I eventually dropped out of it and sold it for a major loss. Thats one thing that will never happen with my Offroad Hobby. I could drop the hobby right now and get nearly everything I invested. Keep that in mind.

Good luck with your new hobby and we will see you crawling back in a month when the RC craze wears off! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

I too have a T-Maxx. I am a slightly sponsored r/c driver. I have been in the r/c scene for 15 years. I will have to admit, that I get more satisfaction out of my K5 than I have with an r/c car. My 3year old son loves driving in it and that in itself is worth keeping it. I have thought about getting rid of it because of the cost, but it would crush my boy.

I know when I met my wife I was racing twice a week and practicing once a week. She got tired of it quick. She likes the truck more also, but does complain about the price of some stuff though.

Do what you feel is best for you and your family (if one is there).

Enjoy the r/c and check out www.tempgun.com and www.integy.com they are my sponsors.

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

Wes, my friend, I know where you're coming from. I've spent a lot less time here lately as well and to be honest, the "driving old trucks" thing has worn me out a bit. It sure doesn't help that now that summer is here I'll be spending a lot more time out at my rec property.....

Try to drop by every so often and say hello, eh? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

Here's my XTM Mammoth and brother's mini T on the bed.
mammoth.JPG

I ran a quart of fuel through it a month or so ago and haven't used it since, don't have any fuel for it right now and i'm busy with my new (to me) K5.

edit: It's bigger and faster than a T-Maxx or Savage. It has a truggy chasis, not like the Savage which I prefer since it's real easy to work on.

Re: I\'m bowing out of the truck scene.....

Good Luck on your new RC hobby, I was into that for a little bit. I just sold my T maxx for stuff for my K5. I guess it all comes down to what makes you happy. Sad to see someone quit doing something they onced loved.
