Building a welding table. Well 2 actually. First one is paying for the second one.

I want to make the legs adjustable. I also don't want to bend down to adjust them.

Thinking of a threaded rod going down the legs. I want to just be able to stick a ratchet in the top of the leg and adjust. That's all well and good. But I can't think of an easy way to make the foot not spin while I adjust it. Doesn't need much adjustment an inch would suffice.

I'm doing everything I can to make life so I don't have to get down on my knees anymore

That'd have to be a long thick rod so it doesn't bend from the weight. Maybe use a short piece of rod with a slot cut in the top that you could stick a rod down through an access hole and turn like a screwdriver. Or we'll a nut on top of the rod to turn by an "extended ratchet" of sorts.:dunno:

use a jack stand screw end on the bottom of the leg and you can kick it with your foot to make it go up or down.

I'm thinking top and weld a socket or bolt to it so you can spin it with a ratchet. Or my other idea is to build a square leg like a trailer jack but do a threaded 1" rod and use a ratchet down in a hole to spin it kinda like when they stick the thing in the back window of a stock car to adjust the suspension. Weld a nut to the end of the rod and have it sit in a pocket on the lower half and then weld a plate and nut in the upper half to let it spin and extend the lower half. Would be really easy. I can see it all in my head just not a good arteest to draw it up for you.

I second the trailer stand idea. I had one on the family boat trailer and worked freaking awesome. Might even loose the handle and weld a nut on it, then use a ratchet or impact to spin it.

The screw mechanism is easy I don't want the foot to move while adjusting height.

I got an idea now though

Square telescoping tubing tends to not rotate unless the screw is really really hard to turn..........
