i'm having alot of trouble deciding on tires...

I had a set of Dirt Grips on my F-350.

Had an ugly blowout with the camper loaded and towing a boat. Not fun! They are a great looking tire, but after that experience I replaced them with a set of Toyo Open Country M/T's. I reeely like the Toyos, but I haven't used them off road, yet.

off topic alittle,..i had a friend, who bought a set of 35x12.5x16 mud grappler's,.. i fell in love, they are some radical looking tire w/decent street manners, i thought they would perform very well in the mud b/c they have huge gaps between the lugs and sidewall lugs, i was shocked when he was in the mud, even w/such large gaps between the lugs, the tires turned into slicks...no matter how fast he got his wheel speed up, the tires just would not clean out, he couldn't move and he was only 10-15'' deep...i told him right then, that i believe his new tires was in the same category as thornbirds...they look ''mean'', but are crap in the mud.

so, imo..stay away from mud grappler's, they grapple so well that they won't let loose of the mud, hehehee...the really disappointed me!

I'd like to try the pit bull, i think they maybe my next set of tires!

but out of what you listed, definitely the ssr's, they look like tsl's w/side lugs, i love the way they look!

that really surprises me about the mud grapplers. I was looking towards getting a set of those before I found the Baja Claws i'm running. I thought they'd be better in the mud

My 37 Wrangler MTR were 20000plus with good tread left. My current 40 inch bias IROKs are still being evaluated. I can report that they are wearing good and are the best cheap tire for there size. Havent seen much mud but all kinds of Sierra Nevada granite and Pismo sand. Good bang for the buck.

Well you do get 8-10MPG more than I do  Looks like diesel is coming down.. at least on that side of the River. Saw it in Damascus for $4.59.

I'm thinking the Blazer will get 35" LTB's..
if you're only going to be driving it 800 miles per year, who cares about fuel economy? that's why you oughtta run a tire that will give you the best off road performance and not worry about fuel economy or tire wear... at 800 miles/year, you'll never run the tread down!

my mt/r's have 30k on the clock and only show about a 25% tread loss... at this rate, i'd be able to run these tires for a total of 120k! :haha: of course they'd look like dick cheney's head....

ssrs will seriously get 3-5x the treat life of an ltb. my friend had a set of a 4 cyl heep, got MAYBE 10K miles out of them. consider less on a fullsize...SSRs should get 30K+ if treated right.

Guy I work with has gone thru 3 sets of LTB's on his burb and has gotten 40k + on each set.

I just bought 37x16 inch Iroks and MT Classic II's to replace my 38x16.5 Radial Swampers. These tires are the most incredible slick rock and general trail tire I've ever run. And I've had MT/r's, BFG's, others and currently run MT Toyo's on my DD.

On my K5 that is the case :D Last year I put 600 miles on it and most of that was either going to town and back for gas or gravel roads :eek1:

My Sub is going to be a daily driver for another year at least.. 15K miles.
