so i wanted to get new rims and paint the truck camo, and put the cucv bumpers on. The thing could use new paint in certian spots and surface rust repairs and new rockers. Im also going to be going through the woods once in awhile which means scuffing the paint. So i really dont know what to do here. I really like the cucv bumpers and camo, but i also like the trim and my american racing rims, but im gonna be scuffing the paint more. I need to replace soom of the trim and i see its not that bad on LMC. And i guess i could get new rockers and fix the body up. I mean its gonna be 75% mall crawler, and 25% off road through woods and on the beach. The camo would let me repait it so it has a nice complete paint job, i just dunno how much it would be to spot paint it and fix the trim, and i still gotta worry about the trees

I also wanna know how i can incorperate the cucv bumpers onto the silverado trim. IS there any way? I mean what else looks good other than crome bumpers. What do you guys think? I like the camo look, but also the silverado look. I wish i could have both but i cant.

Obviously the cosmetic difference is opinion, but im also curious what would be cheaper and what would be better on something that sees some abuse to the paint. And as i said, does any other color bumper work on my truck other than crome? Cause id really like to put the cucv bumpers on but im not sure how to make it not look like crap without camo.

If your going to beat on it, go ahead and slap the camo on. If you go through the trouble to make it look nice(new trim and fix the body rust), then you need to take the trouble to keep it nice.

black bumpers will go with anything. you could even go crazy and have them line-x coated. after the body repairs, you could even line-x the lower body edge about 8in or so, to help ward off trail pinstriping, and tie the bumpers into the rest of the body.

i had my rockers replaced and it was i believe a 600 dollar job for just the one side and to fix the roof where the sheriffs light bar had been. another alternative, that i will probly be doing, is a "dipped" color rather than camo, just doing like desert tan, in a matte finish. skuffs wont show up that well, dont have to worry about the clear coat. Ill probly be doing desert tan with black bumpers and rims, and then maybe stencil some sort of funny name or numbers on it.

i mean it will see some off-roading, as much as one can on Long Island. Its just i like the trim of the silverado too! Bah! Hmm i guess the bumpers would look good black, i can paint them whatever, but what about the cucv brush guard? Black too or would it look dumb? I also like the look of the custom flat metal black bumpers, but idk if black will look good with the light blue and grey.

that camo is sweet.

Ive been slowing debadging mine and the more I look at it the more I see CHROME everywhere, ugh.

Id say keep the brush guard and yes, paint it black as well. and theres no reason you cant keep the silverado trim with a matte paint job.....

Take the nerf bars off, lift it and put some bigger tires on it first. Then if your heart so desires, repaint it or whatever.

It doesn't look like it has rust nearly as bad as my truck, and I still plan on just fixing the rust spots because my paint is still in pretty good shape. Then once you smash a couple panels and doors, replace the doors with cheapies, repaint camo, etc....

if all you do is take off that crappy plastic air dam deal I will be happy. As said before after a couple trips in the woods your decision will be easy - run it like it is till you wreck it then camo it up. only cut your fenders once you have eough money for tires and 3/4 ton axles. it will happen it just takes time.

i actually like the nerf bars. In my opinion that style front looks stupid with anything else other than those nerf bars or the cucv bumper. But thats just me, what plastic air thing? and i do plan on putting some sort of MTs on it, 33inch bfgs i think. Im considering 4 inch lift but im waiting on my friend with his bronco for that, wanna do both in one weekend.

The air dam on the front, below your front bumper. Get rid of that and the nerf bars. I just hate nerf bars because they make the truck look like it sits lower, and they reduce your ground clearance immensely...

Hey you can always do what i did, buy a second blazer to lift and drive to the mall and have one to beat the piss out of. Dont do what i did it cost too much!!! still havent finished the mall cruiser! and the hog truck is only bout 85 percent done, but its fun and you cant take the money with you when you die! just remeber you only live once!

yeah, too many projects take forever. my neihgbor has about 5 or 6 project vehicles that have been in basically the same state for 4 years. i keep telling him to sell them all and project one instead, but he just wont. my 81 is my only project right now, and will prolly stay mostly the way it is for a year or two more.

as to the paint question: would you rather be "bling" or be "go ahead, cut me off"? i say rattlecan camo.

haha im 21 and have 2 vehicles! i cant afford another! if i could id just buy a cucv. i like the nerf bars, i dont see how they effect ground clearance. The air thing, i dont know, dosnt bother me that much, whats it for anyway?

theyre supposed to create a vacuum under the front of the rig going towards the back to help airflow through the radiator. bull. our old black sub had it, then one day it got tore up so dad took it off and no difference to temp. they just look ugly.

Those cucv bumpers suck. Heavy and bend easy. I had 3 trucks and everytime I bumped into anything the damn bumper just pushed back. If you going for looks then its ok other than being heavy. Now the camo paint looks good. I perfer the desert version, you dont see many of those around.

I think you should wait till you lift the truck, then decide. I think my next paint job will be camo or flat black :D
