well, i got my one tons in, and listening to the guys at the local driveshaft shop, i went ahead and pointed my rear pinion at the Tcase output, this is after the shackleflip, and longer shackles...it is like 2-4degrees below being straight at the Tcase output. i think i have deathwobble...but now im leaning towards it being the rear shaft. the bottom joint is near perfect....i could prolly stick screw drivers in there and run it instead of the ujoint...it turns on the same axis all the time(i think that's waht i mean):D

anyways, the guy who welded my perches on did a badass job, he spent the extra time and the welds are perfect. he's really the only guy i trust to weld. anyways, he's no longer available to weld, so what is my next option??? i don't wanna cut off perches and reweld if i can avoid it.

would it be going to a CV shaft?? but i have a slip yoke...is that possible???

or are there shims big enough to fix this???

would dropping the TCase help at all????

here's a pic from another post of mine....i forgot to mention im running some spring packs that are stiff as hell(one ton dually springs) since i tow alot...

im running a regular shaft right now...just one joint up top and one at the bottom. ill have to get a complete pic after work tomm. im running about 8inches of suspension at the rear. is it possible to have a CV shaft built with my slip yoke up top???? if so i may have to go that route...ill get ya'll better pics tomm. thanks!

your getting driveline vibe because your pinion is pointed directly at your tcase output and your only running ujoints instead of a cv

yes a cv shaft can be made for a slipyoke

so i need one of these purdy shafts....

does anybody know if they can convert mine over or if i need to have a whole brand new one made. better yet i heard some old caddys or something had a TH400 with the same output as the NP208 and all you have to do is have it lengthened and the bottom yoke welded on. im gonna try to find that post, it's buried deep im sure...let the searching begin...

yuppers, thats the one i had for a while, its 1350 too. you can also take the other end and use it for the cv on the front shaft if im not misteken. ive had mine totally rebuilt since then so all i have left is the outer thingy. the slip though is only like half spline so when you take it to get it lenghtened ask them about a full spline slip.

if you can purchase whats circled in red separately then a driveline shop should be able to cut down your old shaft and weld it on

a cv shaft will cure all of your driveline issues and the way your pumpkin is sitting right now u wont even have to shim it...

Don't you need at least one degree of angle to get those rollers in the U-joint caps to... roll? If not, you can wear them unevenly. Dunno, I think I read that somewhere.

well, let me ask you guys this...do i just need a CV shaft???? is there special types??? i called jesse at HAD and that sounds like the way to go...but i need my truck asap, and don't really have 2weeks to wait for the new HAD shaft. i called my local shop and they said they need measurements and they can weld it up for me....i've never had any problems with them until i asked them how to set my pinion angle a few days ago, and they said to point it directly at the output shaft. i don't really like that, basically what im asking is how hard is it for them to screw up a CV shaft???? can i just take the measurements and boom, no more vibes??? oh yeah, the truck isn't even driveable like it is now. it vibes like hell over 10-15MPH.

the best thing to do is to take it to them and have them say "this is how much you need" its better for them to take the measurements than you be off by an inch or something. on second thoguht, i dont see why they cant take the one you have now and make the new one the same length. if your old on is the right lenght then just tell em to add the cv to it.

no..infact i had them press in brand new ones in both ends...the conversion joint down below. i just pulled the shaft out and im giong to check the angles to let you guys know where im at.

well, i just borrowed my buddies angle finder and i hit the t-case and the rear diff and the rear diff is 16.5degrees up and the T-case is at 4.5degrees down. they don't make a shim big enough to fix this do they??? i prolly am going to have to get the CV shaft made up eh???

I sourced a drive shaft from a '76 Caddy Fleetwood for when I have my CV shaft made. It has the same spline count as the rear output on my NP241. Not sure if Olds or Pontiacs have the same arrangement.

not a good example but you get the idea what to look for.
