I'm considering my options for rear lift springs in an XJ cherokee. Ive had a 4.5" skyjacker front lift kicking around for awhile now, but in order to throw it in, I need to raise the rear.

After some initial measurements, the rear leafs are 52" across the spring, with 24" from the front eye to the center pin.

I'm not at my shop right now, can anybody tell me the dimensions of a front 4" chev spring?

I think they are 52" eye to eye right? How about the height with no load? (ie. sitting on shop floor, eyes on the ground)

Also, have you guys changed the position of the rear shackle? it seems to me there isnt enough room for it to flex with the hole that it sits in.

Im figuring on this XJ sitting on 33x11.5 M/t's, without hacking out the body.

I believe the fronts are 48. I'm not next to my truck but if I remember right that's from eye to eye.

Yeah, front Chevy springs are 47-48" long. Rears are 52" or 56" til the body change. I'm running about 5" of lift and had 33x12.50s on mine, but I hacked the body around the outside of the factory flare in front. It still hit the tire on the fender a couple times when I got stupid with it. You're gonna want to get longer shackles on the rear, and I think you'll be limiting your flex to get 33x11.50s on it without cutting.

Im looking to get creative with this, not spend an arm and a leg on bolt-on parts. I think RustyK5 has the lifted Xj's? I cant remember.

thanks man, just to clarify: ya'll are measuring unsprung eye to eye? or are you measuring along the arch of the pack?

Uh, the stock fronts are flat, and I mean flat, so it's kinda the same thing either way.:D The rears I measure along the leaf.
One note on Rusty's, though. I like their stuff, except for the HD trackbar I got from them. It had bushings at both ends. There was no way in hell the jam nut would stay tight, since the axle twists a little as it travels up and down. I ended up switching the threaded end for a heim joint with hi-mis spacers. The RE trackbar already has a heim on that end.

The center pin on 52" Chevy springs is right in the middle of the spring, 26" from either side.

That means you would extend your wheelbase by 2" if you ran Chevy 52's. You could use a set of zero rates to move the axle forward by 1.5" and hence only extend your wheelbase by 1/2".

As for how much lift you'll get out of a set of Chevy 52's, who knows?
