I'm Spoiled now!

I really would like to know if there really is a lockup convertor on the 400. I have never seen one at all. My 89 and 90 (new body style) did not come with lockup convertors. It would really help my mileage as i have a higher stall convertor on my trucks. I'll do some more checking.

I also have those Helm manuals, i'll have to check them good. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I also can confirm the existence of lockup on TH350's but never saw one on the 400. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My .02,

Well maybe I'm wrong. I'll double check the manual and the RPO's. I could have sworn the cut away and the description in the service manual indicated lock up. I'll crawl under it tonight and see how many wires go to it.

I hope that I am wrong. I'd love to have a lockup 400. Best of both worlds IMO. Keep us posted.

Nope, you are right and I'm wrong.
The manual hops around a little at the begining about the converters. and how each works. The text starts with non lock up then lock up then goes into the TH400 section. Doesn't really indicate what transmission each converter goes to in the begining. I then skimmed thought the section about the TH400 and started looking at a cutaway that was a 700R4 not a TH400.
Bummer...extra heat aetra power loss.
I'm seriously concidering a Gear vendors overdrive. This truck is my DD now and I run38 miles of hwy a day at 65+mph.
