can anyone tell me which tranny, or how to find out, my 83 6.2L K5 has... it has the NP208 and its an automatch so i think it has to have the 350 or 700... thanks

Tree speed would be a 350, possibly 400, 4 speed would be the 700.

I thought 81 was the last year for the 350...

I have no clue about diesels...

I would assume its a 700r4 since you have a rear 10 bolt. I think the 400 was for 3/4 tons and 1 tons.

Like the other said - 4 speed = 700r4 and 3 speed = th400 unless th350 was used in 83 but I don't think it was.

You could get a 350 up to the late 80s. My old man's old old truck was an 84 with a 350 in it.

im pretty sure that most diesels at that point had the 400...correct me if im wrong.

No, a lot of the 6.2L 1/2 tons had the 700. I have only seen 400s in 3/4 tons for 82/83, but that doesn't mean that some 1/2 tons didn't have them.

there was never a 400 stock in a k5, you get a th350 with the standard auto package but could upgrade to the 700r4

modulators..

700r4= NO modulator!-
TH350= Modulator on rear of case next to tailshaft!
TH400= Modulator on front passenger side of case near bellhousing!

If your wondering WTF a Modulator is,its a canister looking device with a vacuum hose plugged onto it!..

Tranny pan illustrations are available online too,or at parts stores,in filter catalogs...
