My 18year old Walmart impact finally died. It was one of those that you get in a kit when you buy one of their air compressors. Of course it died just as I start to rotate the tires on my Dodge diesel :ignore::ignore:
It's been a long time since I had to change a tire with manual labor. Had to use the floor jack handle for a breaker bar.

What's good without breaking the bank? Harbor Freight has some ok price ones. I'm not spending MATCO $$$

I've had the Earthquake for about 4 years now. Used it everyday multiple times a day. When I first bought it I was a tire tech.
It's been the strongest 1/2 impact in every shop I've worked in. It's outdone snap-ons and the legendary Mac guns of fellow friends/co-workers.
Now, things may have changed in the production of them, but for $89 (I used a coupon and spent about $75) I'd definatly buy another before I bought anything else.

Disclaimer: I oiled it every day at the beginning of the work day.

It's also one of the heaviest 1/2 guns I've used.

I like the IR specs but the cheapest one I've found is about $250. I can buy 3 of the Harbor Freight guns for that. I'll just be sure to keep working out so I can lift it :D

Nobody's mentioned AirCat? There's a lot of talk over on Pirate about them. They look like a killer deal and there's supposed to be super quiet. That's what I'm planning on getting as soon as I can afford it. I've seen some videos on youtube of a NitroCat vs. an IR 2135 on a load cell and the NitroCat produces more force. :dunno:

Impacts have been around for a long time, you can find a good value for your dollar in a lot of different places.

AirCats are F'n AWSOME! I've been using a 3/8" 5 days a week for the last 6 years, no rebuilds, the snappy 3/8" I replaced lasted 2 years before needing a rebuild had NO where near the power and is easily 3 times as loud as the AirCat.

ingersoll 2135Ti, hands down. ive beat the hell out of mine for 6yrs now with no problems.

they suck to get repaired and they break.

IR thundergun.
Check pawnshops for an IR244 or 234.

I had a thundergun and took care of it and it took a crap on me after a year and a half. I bought the matco composite (don't remember the model # offhand) with almost 1000 ft/lbs of peak reverse torque and not only is it WAAAAY quieter, stronger, lighter and more comfortable to use it has lasted 8 years now, with 4 of those using it every day. Hands down would buy another one.
