Impact???

I use an old Snap-On 1/2" impact. Works great. I was thinking about buying a 2135 but i realized i barely ever oil the snap-on and it still works, i got another snap-on impact in the box with no fitting so i thnk ill be set for a while.

I've had my IR 2135TI for almost a year now, been a great impact. Maybe it's about time I oil it...:doah: Got mine off ebay for $189 shipped.

YES!!! Good idea...don't forget to grease the hammer case as well...you need a needle point grease gun. DO NOT OVERGREASE IT! You will lose power. Look at the front cone of the gun and you'll see that little metal port to grease it. The mini grease gun and 1 lb. of IR grease was $20 on the Matco truck.

Well I actually vote against the IRs. I have Air Cat guns. When I went to buy them I originally wanted 3/8" and 1/2" TNT's, but the guy told me about some new guns that had more power, better grip and quiter. I was skeptical so he told me if I wasnt happy hed trade me for the TNT's. Well I love them. The 3/4" is 400ftlbs and the 1/2" is 800ftlbs, cush a crush sleeve like nothing, thats the real test for a impact I think. They must be some nice guns too because a few months ago I see MAC sells some red "Nitro Cat" guns which are EXACTLY the same as my Air Cats, just red insead of black, they are also a lot more expensive then mine were.

Yes, IR are great guns but they cost. For hobbiest the Harbor Freight gun does not suck, and its $70 on sale.

This gun is not much better. Less than a pound lighter for another $100. I did not say the Earthquake was the best gun for professionals, just well priced for hobbyist.

Nobody's talking about the thundergun, that's one of IR's cheap models. Of course the specs aren't that great. Besides, I'm finding thunderguns all over the net for about $93. So yeah, I would probably pay an extra $20 for the IR name and their use of titanium, even if I was just a hobbyist that didn't care too much about my impact. I am a hobbyist who is in love with my impact, however, cause I got the 2135TI. Worth the waiting and saving IMO.

As a Pro and a Hobbyist, I think the last sentence there is dead on.

as a last note on this from me... The wife OKed to funds for a new compressor and a few tools. With the money alotted I just bought an NitroCat by AirCat 1/2" impact gun.

Specifications : 1/2" Air Impact Wrench, Twin Clutch, Special Edition w/ Body Flame Work Clutch Mechanism : Twin Clutch Max Torque (ft-lb) : 1,000 Working Torque (ft-lb) : 200-800 Sound Level (dba) : 85 Free Speed (RPM) : 7,000 Air Pressure (PSI) : 90 Air Inlet (NPT) : 1/4 Avg. Air Consumption (cfm) : 4.6 New Weight (lbs) : 4.5

One Year Warranty from AirCat

I got it on Ebay for $170. In this case I had the money and bought what I wanted. If money had been a problem I would have gotten the Earthquake, because any impact gun is better that none.

I have a older IR and a older MAC the Mac has broke bolts off of a D9 bulldozer which has some huge bolts on it. We tore the dozer apart with that Mac with minimal effort.

I just purchased a IR 2135QTi 1/2" Impact and it was worth every penny. It is almost too quite for my liking. The are listed in alot of tool catologs for $300 and up. Found mine on ebay for $225 with shipping included. I work in a body and mechanical shop with 10 other guys. They all agree, this gun is top shelf all day. Some say its too quite and they are affraid they will break it. But they all agree that when it comes to power, this gun is one of the best in the industry. I say hit ebay and pay a little extra for a good gun. Better in the long run.

I have an oooooold craftsman that works great.. strong enough to pull the horns of a gundar... LOL

Also an electric one (not sure what brand) that my dad had since I was a kid, that also works awsome. Plus I have a 18v DeWalt that puts out 300 ft/lbs that works great, for a batt powered one. I got it to save air for trail use.
