Impounded!!!!!

Just my .02, Law enforcement needs money to operate, bottom line, they have to get it from somewhere besides the goverment, it helps train and supply our officiers with what they need, everybody knows this, they get it from people speeding, DUI's, and other small charges they cite the offender with. Not saying it a bad thing, but I'm sure the higher ranking in Law Inforcement want to recieve as much money they can so it benifits the officers working our streets. As for my own experiences, well I got a DUI a few years ago and I bought my way out it. It cost me an extra 3,000.00 to do it. The money was paid to the court and now my record is clean. If I would have not done that, I wold have recieved 1 year probation, 1000.00 fine and 50 hrs. community service, instead 3,000.00 and and walked away with out anything. Just to add this, I didn't need anything on my record due to fact I hold a Master of Uninspected Towing Vessel and the Coast Gaurd would have suspended my lic.

That truck wouldnt make it out of the driveway in maryland or PA :| They measure the frame out here and if its over 27inches you will get cited. My jimmy is sitting at 37 inch's and ive been ticketed twice with a 25$ fine. Both times they have been cool.

however if they had been maryland state police, my rig would have been towed probaly.

thats when 10 inch body lifts come in handy!:haha:

Ah, if he can afford a truck like that, he has no worries.
It's just a speed bump.
Cudos for having a girl that can drive it though!

And no, thanks to a few knuckleheads, I chose not to read the entire thread.
Some people should have to chase the post button around house 5 times before getting to hit it.

And that usually the result because the driver was an ass................

Hmm... An ATTITUDE ticket?:p:

I've never written one of those:wink1:

We have a traffic team in our department. Their primary role is to go out on the local highways and remind good little boys and girls how to drive nice and safe. They are paid for primarily by the tickets they write with some DOT and state safety dollars.

Folks bitch and moan about them all the time. Funny thing is, they won't write a ticket for less then 10mph over, as the bail is penuts and most people want to go to court and fight it. So they write some heavy duty traffic tickets, run somthing like 40 dui arrests a month, recover 20-30 stolen vehicles a month (Funny thing is, most are from out of tha area) and do accident reconstruction on fatal TA's. Really thankful job.

Funny thing is, EVERY trucker that runs from Canada to LA and back knows they are out there...

AND THEY SLOW DOWN ON THE WAY THROUGH OUR COUNTY!!!!!!!

Oh, and I have Buba beat in the ticket department this month - as long as writing one person 6 tickets counts

Unfortunately, I have to add another one to my tally. As soon as I went on duty, I caught someone flying through a stop sign. But on the flipside, at the end of shift, a quick estimation had totally miles driven at speeds over 100mph close to 90, if not a few miles more. Might have to check into in-flight refueling one of these days.:D

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!
I went to the police station friday and talked to the chief of police and explained the situation. he was a really nice guy. I didn't say anything about the officer or what he said. he told me that the officer who impounded my truck should not have done it and that was his policy in his dept to give a warning the 1st time that a truck that size was on the road and after that a $250 fine for "exceding vehicle height limitations". he told me that since i lived in another county and had just purchaced the truck he would consider this my warning and appologized for any inconvience!!! REALLY nice guy! I got it back about 30 minutes later. he "suggested" that i lower the truck a little to keep from tickets. we had a nice little conversation, shook hands and said good bye.
i got really LUCKY!!!

I think I'll just stay in my own county from now on!!!

oh! 1 more thing, i hold no ill feelings twords the officer for doing his job, just for his comments, I was military police for 10 years and know it's a tough job. i just feel that he shold have kept his comments to himself.

If only you had done this before starting this thread you would have saved us a bunch of time and arguing... but I kinda enjoyed it anyways... :doah:

Ack, I would be burned out after a shift like that!

Nice thing about being a reserve is just having to do the minimum hours to stay certified when you want to! Problem is they guys need help on the holiday weekend more then anything else, so I go and do about 10 domestic calls:mad:

Last weekend I had a bozo who blew a .14 do a burnout from the bar parking lot and take off through the little town I was in at 70mph (posted 35). Then he thinks the guy with the Ford Expidition with the purdy flashy lights came to race him home.

Duh!

Exceeding the posted, exceeding the posted in a school zone, failure to obey a traffic sign/device, illegal lane change, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and a DUI. Bail was $4200. Cash only!

Look no his wifes face when 4 Sheriffs vehicles chase husband into their driveway, wrestle him to the ground, cuff him and haul him away - Priceless:D

No quota we're allowed to write as many as we want!!

I need to buy stock in papermate pen company.

Quotas exist in virtually every profession. You go to the mechanic shop, they have a quota X # of dallars per hour of labor.

Restaurants X # of dollars for a certain item and don't forget to tip.

Next time you go to a grocery store or restaurant I want you moan and whine about the price, try to get a break on the price by whining and when you don't call the people all sorts of nasty names and then get on the internet and chastise them for actually making you pay for the items you ordered!

Law enforcement the agency I am familar with does not have quotas other than things that are required to stay certified in certain areas but they are not tickets. However you are compared to everyone else who works there and not performing to set standards can result in not getting raises and possibly getting fired just like any other profession.

If you have a company with 5 employees and 3 of them do the same amount of work consistently in a day, one does way more than anyone else and one just shows up for work sometimes and you really can't tell when he is not there. Well raise time comes around and who gets a raise and who doesn't or who gets fired. Hmmm sounds like a quota.

************OK back on track. Glad to hear you got the tickie dealt with and because of connections it didn't cost a lot. Well done and way to be civil about how to handle it!!***********

on another note. Safety inspections. My truck honestly should not have been on the road prior to the lift and all the other mods I have done to it. useless shocks, shot springs, 4 wheel drum brakes that allowed a lane change to the left with one pump of the brakes and a left turn with 2 pumps of the brakes. No emergency brake, non working hazard lights, body mounts totally shot. Rolling junk. Now that I have sunk a wagon load of money and made it an illegal vehicle in some jurisdictions it is far safer. 4 wheel disc brakes, new shocks, body mounts, steering redone, decent tires. I did add a considerable lift, however I also widened the stance which increased stability. My hydro assist steering made the steering more stable and easier. All in all the jimmy is far more streetable than it ever has been before. Other than not having an engine at this time.

Oh well enough rambling gotta go.
