improving turning radius

The ORD Crossover / Highsteer arms that I installed seemed to really improve my turning radius quite a bit over the standard crossover arm.

You can also play with those small "limit bolts" on the knuckles (are we talking about a D60 front?) to eek out a little more turning...just watch for other interferences as you screw those in deeper.

He doesn't have a SFA , he has a 2wd truck

The first thing is to make sure the steering linkages are all set up right so that you are getting to the stops at both sides.

Then you can reduce wheelbase by moving your rear axle forward and moving your front axle back. My Jimmy turns tighter than my car because the wheelbase is so short (stock wheelbase)

Changing the front steering geometry is possible, but difficult and without much return. If you're serious, go with rear-steer.

Ahh yes, I should have said this was for a 2wd. But I can't make my mind up If I want to convert this to 4wd or just leave it 2wd. So in this case 2 and 4wd improvments are welcomed.

If you've done anything to increase the track width of the vehicle (wheel spacers, or different offset wheels from stock) you will have affected the turning radius also... and not in a good way.

Only thing is If I convert it over to a 4x4 Id never get it out on the trails. I plan on restoring this truck and keeping it for ever.

Ya best leave while ya can , and never go attend a wheeling trip ..... it will bite you in the boo boo so hard and fast , you won't even have time to say "I love sheetmetal"

Buy a pretty truck , wheel the ugly truck :wink1:

Thats my plan. In the next few years, when I can afford to I plan on buying a k5 to hit the trails with you guys. Ahh so much ideas so little money :o
