On my '90 Jimmy i'm finding that when I get below a half tank I start having what feels like fuel pickup issues. Truck will surge and barely get out of it's own way when stepping on the gas and stall when I let off. It will also stall after I have been running down the interstate and let off the gas for an exit ramp.
I dropped the tank and don't see any cracked hoses or clogged strainers.
Is my pump giving out or can someone think of what else might be causing the problem?

Yeah, pull the pump out and check the little rubber "intermediate" hoes that connects the bump to the sending unit too. Also, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Since the TBI's only run off 9-13 psi, doesn't taken much pressure drop to make it start running like crap

True about the filter, but since it’s a half tank problem I’d suspect the hose in the tank. The ‘newer’ ethanol based fuels eat the rubber hoses that weren’t designed for it and my guess is that it’s the original hose.

Fuel filter was one of the first things I replaced back before i figured out it was a tank level problem.
Unfortunately I put the tank back in before I posted this thread so i'll drop it again this weekend and just replace all the hoses in there. Fortunately it's fairly empty still.
