When I go up steep inclines the motor stalls. It seems to be flooding rather than starving for fuel. The carb is an Edelbrock, not sure of which. I had a friend tell me "oh yea, that's a carter 600". Fuel injection is not an option due to the cost. Are there any modifications that could be made to this carb or is there a carb that would bolt up to a 350 that will give me less problems?

And good lord you have been a member since 2002 and this is your first post!! :eek1:

Good stuff sir :thumb:

I had the same issue as you. It was a Carter carb. I tried all the tricks when I rebuilt it. I.e adjust the floats, fuel line (blockage) in the cross over, spring loaded needle and seats. It was better than before but it was still unacceptable on inclines. Plus the choke always gave me fits.
(I got a nice video of this in action)

I contemplated going with tbi and even started collecting parts for the conversion, but ultimately ended up buying a reman quadrajet.

Amazing difference!! Its honestly the closest thing to fuel injection.
I can stick the nose up on obstacles I have no chance in climbing and it will stay running. Of course it spits and sputters some but its worlds better than the carter ever could be.

I'm very happy with it and the truck starts better than it ever has :thumb:
