Ok yeah maybe... So what the hell is this thing right in the corner of my engine compartment. Drivers side between firewall and fender. Its an orb with a vacuum hose coming out of it. The line is T'd and both open. I'm assuming thats not suppose to be.

Where were they suppose to go. Whats it for. Will Indy survive this mystery?

Also whats the canister with vacuum lines going to it near my drivers side headlight?

The vacum "orb" is for your heater/ac controls, the mode doors are vacum operated. There should be 2 vacum hoses to the "orb", one going into the cab to your controls and one to a vacum port on your engine. The other thing you're asking about is the charcoal cannister for your fuel system, it's an emissions component.

DAMN, 2 minutes late.

Ok so the orb has nothing hooked up to it and theres only 1 line to it. Ok so get rid of that canister is on my list of things to do. Koasher? I still cant figure out why my truck idles so high (800-1000). Also when I first started it up with the TBI spacer and new injectors today the idle was going up and down a decent amount. I tapped the gas and it stopped. Once it was warm it didnt do it again.

So can the charcoal cannister be removed if all the emissions is removed. I "think" ive only got one line coming out it. Ill have to check. I got rid of my smog pump and EGR valve. Ive got PCV filter on one of the valve covers and am running catco cats.

I can't see any reason to remove the charcoal canister unless you need the space or something. It keeps the gasoline stink down and in theory can save you just a little bit of gas.

And what is "vacuum circulation"?

I just assumed that the vacuum went out the manifold, into the canister and back into the manifold. Where does the vacuum line coming out of that cannister go to? Its like a hardline on the frame but I lost it from there.

My guess would be to help cut down on fumes, vapors or what have you. I DONT KNOW, Stop yelling at me. LOL>.Who knows what half the **** does on cars now and days. :)

The line is going from the tank to the cannister, it is a vent for the gas tank. The fumes get sucked into the cannister and then into the engine. It does not rob any power at all, leave it.

IIRC it should have a little cap on it to prevent debris from getting in it, but essentially it is open. The cap doesn't completely surround the post, just covers the top .
