Dos anyone remember the article in Peterson's about a style of bead locks that had an inflatable bead lock installed in the wheels? What are they? Has anyone used them? I thought that they were Australian, or something.

I was reading about those today whilst on the crapper..... Pretty inovative product. I wonder how well they work and what they cost?

The staun lock is short and puts all pressure on the beads than anywhere else. Ive heard the hardest part is getting them seated correctly in the rim.
I run the Staun Beadlockers or Second Air as they used to be called. Really impressed with them.
They cost £100 each over here and well worth it. They take a bit of patience to fit but once you've concoured the first one it's easy after that!
They sit about 3 or 4 " high in the rim well so you can run your tire pretty much flat and get lots of wal flex still and there's no way the bead is going to pop off. The only thing I don't like anout them is that the beadlock tube and the new tire valve have metal stems which I'm worried about breaking off. I moved both valve as far in board as possible to try to avoid this and welded up the old hole.

yeppers... them beadlocks have definitely gone up in price. There was a time, not that long ago, when they were like $150 australian dollars each.... hell of a deal at the exchange rate back then. When I first heard about them over on Pirate I planned on ordering some from Aussieland... just never had the $ laying around to do it. Now that they have hit our shores they are suddenly a lot more expensive. Other than the challenge of getting them on the rim, they seem to be a great solution.

They are about $180 each for 16.5 wheels and I just called on some for H2 wheels and the suggested retail was $190 each. I like everything about them except the installation is a pain in the ass. I thought I figured them out but six months later I found out I had a fold in two of the tubes because they blew out. Fortunatly the tubes are the cheapest part.
