Thats a solid truck. Sounds like its a 4 speed manual, as they didn't put a 4speed auto in that truck. Solid trans, good tcase.

Cheaper / easier to swap a new 14b in rather than swap gears probably, they are cheap. Woudl probably cost you $200 ish to swap rear ends.

Cost depends on condition and location, but remember, that D60 probably worth 800-1400$ easy if you sold it on its own. So $1500-2000 would be a good deal in my mind, but to each his own. If it runs good, and isn't too beat up, maybe a little more.

yea hes asking $2k for it.yea i would just swap a new rear in it and call it good. its about 2 hours north or me so i would need to find a trailer.

alright if he still has it on monday (my next day off) i will go grab it. i need to fins a trailer though, and possibly a better truck to tow it with. anyone live in the vallejo area want to come down to hollister hills?

Pull out the rear axle shafts and drive line and put it and 4 hi and come home!!

Just to make sure, have you seen pics of the front axle? Lots of people buy a truck, swap the D60 for a 1/2 ton axle then resell the truck. Just trying to make sure you aren't buying this truck solely THINKING it has a D60 front axle when in fact someone may have swapped that axle out. :deal:

Excellent advice.

Well it has a Big hub in the picture . so unless they swapped it since this photo or the put in a external hub Dana 44 I think its still got the 60

good news, i found a extra 4 speed trany with a 205 on it for $300. i always need a spare trany and t-case right? the same guy has a 14bff for sale. i think i will offer him $400 for all 3 and just take the 14b up there with me, swap it in up there and drive the SOB home.

1 more question: will it most likely have 4.10 gears? thanks for all the help guys

most likely 4.10's

but it could be 3.73's or 4.56's

and make sure that new 14 bolt is 1-ton width or she won't be bolting in lol

with the standard trans i would bet 3.73s but it could have been ordeded with anything.

If it came factory with the 6.2 and everything is original, $100 says it has 3.42's or 3.73's.

thanks guys, once again plans fell through. the guy told me he would deliver it Monday (today's Sunday) for an extra $300. so why not right? well i go to the bank and withdraw $2300 for it and not an hour later he calls me back and says he sold it. he told me he everything was a go then turns around and sell it.??? back to square one.

That sucks but probably for the better since with that kind of values there was probably somthing else with the truck he wasan't telling you.

Not all diesels are 3.73, and never had 3.42s for a front 60. I missed out on an 84 crew that had a diesel, that had 4.10s in it.
