I ripped the rear carpet out today and removed the side panels. I found where the water in my floor boards came from. The gasket for the top is leaking:mad:. Hell it is only 30 years old:doah:. Upon removal of the rear carpet it too was wet and the drivers fender carpet was wet enough it was dripping water when I pulled it off:eek1:.

The good news is the only rust I found was underneath the tabs that are bolted along the floor to hold the side panels on (it was in between the bracket and the floor) and the passenger "roll bar" area where it is bolted to the floor pan. It is all surface rust and should clean right up. I will try and get pics in the morning.

The floor and bed as a whole look brandy new:D

Mine used to look like a waterfall coming in from the front of the top. My soft top leaks some, but the inside is Herced and I have a few drain holes so I dont care.:pimp:

Mine was leaking around the window seal in the back and I had to throw the carpet pad away. Then I flopped and had to replace the window, so I guess the flop wasn't all bad....

I didn't think my fiberglass top gaskets leaked until I drove through a high-pressure brushless car wash last month before putting it away for the winter. I had to wring out my left pantleg.
:haha:

It just means I am one step closer to a cage and cutting the top off:D. I am gonna herc the inside also and run the few stereo wire and CB antenna wire through some conduit. First things first I gotta build my center console/ battery box for the rear seat.
