Ingersoll Rand 2135TiMAX

Its louder than the 2135Ti, and only marginally stronger. But can usually be purchased for the same price. The 2 year warranty is a nice feature too. Everyone I know who has one loves it, only complaint is the slightly louder noise. Main reason I won't be purchasing one any time soon. Fellow distributor stripped one and said he only found very minor differences.

OK, I received my new 2135 TiMAX in th email yesterday. This is the first "high dollar" quality ait tool I have purchase. As I was looking through the manual, it talks about lubricating it with oil & grease, both inside & out. However, at no point does it tell how to disassemble/reassemble, nor does it explain where exactly to do this maintainance. I searched online and was unable to find any tech guidance. Since it is basically the same as the 2135 that most are using, could someone please explain this? Better yet, if someone has a tech manual available, could someone email me a copy? Thanks guys.

There is no reason this shouldn't last at least 20 years or more based on my usage rate so I want to take care of it.

The oil it is talking about is air tool oil. I use marvel mystery oil air tool oil, you basically just hold it upside down with the air hose nipple pointed up, then put 2-5 drops of oil in the nipple. Plug in the hose and run it free for a few seconds to circulate the oil. The grease it is talking about is air tool grease. You need a special little grease gun and tube of grease. There is a small grease zerk on the bottom of the housing infront of the trigger. Just needs a few shots of grease maybe once a month. The grease and grease guns are available on all the tool trucks, but I would think that you could probably find them in the air tool section of sears, or any place that sells air tools. Here are links to what I am talking about. One tube of grease will last a long time even with several different air tools that require it.

Thanks for the reply. I have air tool oil, so I should be able to use that. As for the grease, I'll pick up one of those the next time I'm near a store. Otherwise, I'll have my brother grab me one form the Snap-on truck when it comes to his GMC dealership.

I was mainly confused as there were just no good directions/diagrams to follow and I don't want to ruin a brand new impact.

Thanks again:waytogo:

They are sort of a professional grade of product so I guess they just assume you will know. That and if you buy it threw the proper channels the sales people should inform you of those facts. Of course, lots of pros ignore them too.

Where did you buy it? Internet deals are nice but IR won't honor warranties from online purchases. Of course if you send in the warranty card how are they to know? Yet to determine that one.

Is the 2135ti a quiet gun to begin with? I have the 2131qt (purchased mainly for the quietness and high power) that I've been using for about 3-4 years and I love it. Just looking for a second gun but want one just as quiet. I hate loud guns such as the thundergun.

no they are not a quiet gun by nature. The 2135tiMax is louder than the previous 2135ti as well. The 2135Qti is the previous quiet version. The tiMax is available in quiet, I just got one in for a customer that wanted it. Costs a couple bucks extra, but worth it in my ears. I own the 2135Qti and love it, as well as the low noise level.
