Well, I called a couple local shops this morning and they want around $200 to test my injection pump :eek1: Couple questions . . .

It's a DB2-4911 pump that was removed from the engine when I bought it, it doesn't look that old but who knows? With a mechanical IP like that what are the chances it's actually bad--isn't it pretty much just wear on those as opposed to the electronics roasting on the new pumps?

The pump that was on my N/A 6.5 was a DB2-829-4779 with 5088 stamped over the 4779, so it's obviously been rebuilt to those specs, but I'm doubting they replaced the plunger with the .031 diameter, don't even know if that's possible. Anyone clue me in on that?

Your first pump is probably a DB2831-4911 which has the larger plunger. That's the specs I had mine rebuilt to. I have never heard of the smaller plunger being built to 4911 specs.

I couldn't find any way to tell if a pump is worn. Most suggest just to rebuild it anyway. $200 is a lot for a test:eek1: If your pump needs a rebuild will the $200 go towards that rebuild? What do they want to rebuild it?

I don't know if you can rebuild a 2829 into a 2831 but I don't think you can.

So I can only suggest you rebuild the DB2831-4911 to the same specs.:(
