removed the 3 bolts from the gesr on the injector pump.tried to pull it forward and the shaft pulled out of the pump with it. does this happen or am i screwed?i was taking motor apart to clean and paint. the pump worked fine.

You need to pull the timing cover now and remove the shaft from the timing gear so you can re-install it correctly.
thanks. i'm going to replace the timing chain and gears. i was just worried if there was a clip or something holding the shaft in place.
There are three bolts holding the pump shaft to the gear. They can be accessed through the oil filler if you remove the oil filler tube. The tube just pries out of the rubber grommet.

i had the bolts already off of the ip gear . i thought i was wiggling the gear loose but the whole shaft pulled out. had the timing marks lined up so i just pushed it back in. was able to get the gear loose. thanks
