I've got a puncture in my side wall. Is it possible to just run a tube in the tire. the tires still have bout 80% tread so I'de like to save it if I can. Are tubes a bad idea?:dunno:

it all depends on how bad the injury is. if it's not too big, you should patch the hole before putting the tube in it... that way the tube doesnt get pushed through the hole and pinch it. keep in mind id you're out in the desert with it, and it starts leaking, you cant just plug the hole like you can a tubeless tire.;)

however, if it's bigger than about 3/8", you stand the chance of splitting it wide open if it hits a rock the right (or wrong) way.

Can you run tubes safely in tubeless tires?

Do they even make the right size tubes?

Just some dumb questions as I've never seen this.

yes, they make tubes everywhere from wheelbarrows to Cat 980G loaders. and i've installed them all.

they'll be fine in a tubeless tire.
