So the inner front wheel bearing pack on my 86 k5 came out with the rotor ecxept for the metal ring on the inner part of the bearing pack, anyone have an idea how to get that ring off the shaft I think that the bearing pack got to hot and just cooked it on and I have tried to use a little heat and some big channel lokcs to break it loose with no luck. Any Ideas???

I agree with Jason, cutting and splitting the race will be your best bet to remove the race. You could also try using a puller if you have a 3 jaw type of the appropriate size.

A word of warning tho, if the race got hot enough to wipe out the rollers to the point of the bearing coming apart the chances of the spindle being usable after getting the race off are slim. Most likely the race spun on the spindle and eventually friction welded itself to it. You may end up having to replace the spindle anyway.

If I were in the same situation I would consider going to the local u pull it and grab a spindle. known good part and much less hassle then trying to get the race off a possible trashed spindle.

Good luck,

Rufus
