This is pretty easy. But thought I'd share cause it will just get lost in my build thread.

I bought some harnesses recently. Couldn't get a 4 point in the color I wanted, for whatever reason, so I bought a 5 point. Because these particular harnesses are SFI-16 rated, they mandated that the crotch strap be the stationary strap. Meaning.... the camlock does NOT come off the crotch strap. This is to insure the customer uses the crotch strap in order to comply with SFI rules.

I don't care about SFI rules or crotch straps (at least not in my blazer)

So, what to do.
Remove the crotch strap and change which one is the stationary strap. I chose to have the inside lap belt be the stationary strap. Right side for driver, left side for passenger. I figured that was the only way it would make sense.

You need a philips and maybe some needle nose pliers if you have fat fingers.
One pin is "floating" while the other 4 are controlled by the camlock. I pulled apart both sides of the first camlock, which I found wasn't necessary. Pulling just the "dial" side apart was enough to change the stationary or "floating" pin location.

Here's some pics

Crotch strap on left. New location for driver on right.

Cam upper right, screws and springs, cover, dial, pins, all disassembled.

Just remove top cover, located under the dial, and swap pin locations.

Back together. You can see the "keyed square" that goes in the dial.

Inner strap is now stationary :D

Anyone know the best way to cut the belts down? My should straps have DAYS of extra strap. I was thinking sandwich between two boards and cut with a metal blade chop saw. Maybe heat up a piece of metal and melt the end a little. The piece is there to melt it straight, instead of freehand melting with a torch.

What say thee?

It's just webbing, cut it with a knife or good scissors and burn the ends with a lighter.

We change out a lot of seat belts with our drag cars, we just fold the extra back on itself and use a wire tie to hold it. That way if you change to a different set up or to a different car you always have enough webbing.
