I'm pulling apart a d60 i just bought and am curious on what all to check for. I have the axle now with the rotors pulled off. What all needs to be regreased and should I pull more of it apart? Also how do I know if the kingpin springs are in good shape? Do I need to find a big alan key and undo the rest of the kingpin?

Thanks for the help /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Good idea to pull the shafts and put a set of axle joints in it for piece of mind, then you know that there good. Also pull the kingpin caps and check the bushing for wear. To check the springs stand both of them next to each other, and if they are the same hight there fine, if there different, replace both. I put new set of springs, retainers, and bushing in my D60 right from gm and they were only 80 bucks canadian. Also, i wouldnt bother yanking out the kingpins them selves unless they are heavily worn. or pitted.

upper king pin rebuild kit from ORD: $17

check your seals, hubs and u-joints too.
