My OEM seatbelts did a horrible job of retracting AND stopping even after thorough cleaning and lubing, the latch part *beside console* didnt work well and the whole thing was a mess, but what do you expect for 30years old. They were mainly for looks at this point, they needed to GO!!!!!!!!

Normally, I dont wear a seat belt, *yea yea, i know, it saves lives etc etc*. ive just never really worn one. Anyways, PoPo really cracking down on them around here, worse than ever, I dont need a $105 dollar ticket.

Soooooooooooo, figured ill start wearing my seatbelt a lil more often, maybe ill get use to it and do it all the time, lol.

Anyways,,since we cant get OEM NOS, I was already ordering from LMC and picked up some of their retracting seatbelts. I was kinda leary of them, but figured theyd have to be up to DOT specs , right?

They came with a bracket and I about discarded the bracket thinking it was for some universal fit thing, well it kinda is, but you need the bracket to make it work on a K5 Blazer, so good thing I didnt, lol.

Well, got it all mounted it up, it goes in place just like OEM and works great, its smooth, clean *haha and does what its suppose to. I havent driven truck so havent done the "panic stop" test, but around here, thatll be in short time.

Anyways...thought id share. And yes, its interior time for the ole K5,,,The dash looks pretty good *havent installed it yet, forgot to order the retaining clips, so have them on order* and have paint to do the panels. Should turn out pretty good. Interior going from Blue to Black. :D

Wear it enough, get in the habit of putting it on, trust me, you'll get used to wearing it and feel weird without it a day you don't put it on.

I was the same way, never wore it, just felt to uncomfortable, then this Avalanche with the dash warning bell if you DON'T wear it, every 30 seconds basically forces you to wear it.

It's complete habit now with any vehicle and with several videos I have seen, it's entirely too easy for a person to be ejected from a vehicle if something happens.

Now, the new habit in any fuel injected vehicle is get in, turn the key to on to get the fuel pump priming, while it's doing that, do the seat belt, by the time I get the belt on, the system is primed and pressurized to make for an easier start.

I've been wearing one since 1982.. always been law here in joysey... feels weird to not have on when driving...

it's an excuse to get pulled over in this state.. but saying you weren't wearing one when pulled over for speeding, etc, can be a saving grace when the cops let ya off on the point/moving violation, and just write ya a seatbelt ticket...

anyway, good info... eventually I need to get rid of Mutt's maroon ones... saved for that... :waytogo:

I never wore one when I was younger, but I do now. Learned the hard way. Was a passenger in a car and got partially ejected when we got broadsided. Luckily for me my legs got tangled up in something so the car just dragged me around rather than getting fully ejected out into traffic.

wear it. It's just stupid not to when it's a mild inconvenience at worse and we all know it can save your life.

**UPDATE**

Figured id update this thread instead of making a new one for every lil piece I install on my truck, lol.

I really shouldve done a "build" thread, but it wouldve been years old. ANyways........

Just installed an LMC dash. I have mixed feelings on this, actually I dont. Whatever you do, make your OEM one work, it was made for the truck and will fit the way it suppose to.

Like others have mentioned, the LMC is a lil flimsier than OEM, A bunch of the holes needed to mount arent there, also, the way they built it, there is no way to get the 2 retaining clips on, the area where the gauge bezel mounts to the dash, I just ran some sheet metal screws and hope it holds.

Getting the clips into the dash that hold dash pad to metal part of truck was a major pita and then trying to get the whole thing seated into the metal dash sucked, I have pulled my OEM one out several times and was always able to get it back in without any difficulty.

And because I was getting this one, I junked my old one cuz it was crumbling apart. I dont know if it couldve been fixed or not. But something I wish I had tried before junking it.

Maybe down the line ill actually do the metal DIY metal dash, I like the looks, just a bit too customizing than Im capable of doing.

So, take it for what its worth. Id still luv to find an OEM NOS dash.

crack-free OEM ones pop up... I bought Mutts last yr for 150.. dyed black, looks great... I sold a mint pre-80 one a few yrs back for like a c-note...

NOS pop up too, but they tend to run a bit more mulla... usually 300 to 400... but even they often need to be dyed..

Thanks for letting us know what you found with these parts. On another note, look into what ryoken did on his dash. It is awe-inspiring!!!!

I still need an oem dash...I was hoping for better from the aftermarket...guess I will really research it before I get one...aren't going to be any NOS full vert dashes out there...

***UPDATE***

Just got my LMC door panels. Wow,,they sure dont build em like they use to. The OEM one is thicker and more flexy. this new on is thinner and feels "brittle"

It didnt have any of the power window switch holes or window crack (manual) hole drilled, and since I switch to manual crack, it was easy enough to drill a 1" hole where the crack shaft came thru.

That was the only hole or cutting I needed to do. The door lock was already drilled and had the chrome thingy installed around the plastic and door panel came with a pre-installed felt piece for the window. It was kinda rivoted/stapled to the door panel, so im pretty sure its not replaceable like the OEM ones are. I may just keep my old panels for future reference. I think the new ones will work, but we'll see how long they last.

They actually look really slick and I didnt put any of the crap back on, like the velvet part, the dress up parts nor the map pocket. Its nice and slick and streamlined. The only part I put on was where the door handle goes, that black/chrome piece that goes in there and of course I dyed and reused my arm rests. Repo ones are expensive and mine were in good shape.

Hoping to get some decent pics this weekend.
