So, I will just combine the two projects here for the moment. Finished to seats today. They came out of an 04 Audi and they slide front to back, move up and down, and then recline also. Way better then the stock 1974 seats! These are just mounted like this until I get the cage done (whenever that happens) then they will be tied into the cage. And yes, I am going to use the stock lap belts and remove the Audi seatbelt attachment next weekend.

Now for the gauges, I have Autometer Ultra Lite II's and mounted them in the stock crappy dash. Looks rather ugly, but it will do until I get a custom dash made some day.

Very nice! Clean install. how you want for that instrument cluster! Looks good!

Did you mount those seats on the factory brackets or did they just happen to have brackets that lined up with the factory hardware in our trucks? I'm trying to find a good set of seats that are somewhat 'bolt-in' (without drilling and fabricating a ton of stuff).

Looks awesome, and the gauge cluster is sweet too.

look at his seats again ..... there is custom made plates bolted to the seats and then welded to the stock stuff.

Sweetk30 has the gist of it. The seats already had the sliders on them from the factory. I cut some plates and bolted the seats to them. I then sliced and diced the factory 1974 seat brackets to the appropriate hieght, bolted them back into the blazer, set the seats with the plates bolted to them on top of the stock brackets, adjusted where I wanted the seats, tacked them to the brackets, removed everything from the seats, welded, painted, reinstalled to the seats, then finally installed. Whew, that was a runon sentance!

Hey did the gauges fit without cutting the instrument dash? Or did you have to do some cutting? I personally think it looks great, and am looking to do this mod, but have no experience what so ever! Reason for it is that none of my gauges work, previous owner took them apart and messed them up! How did you get em to hold? Glue? Thanks for the answers! I think maybe just adding the aluminum bezel would make it that much better!

they have cages that hold them in place, and yes he had to cut them. A dremel with a cut off disc, a file, and sandpaper is what you'll prolly need. At least that's what I needed.

Hey guys...yeah, to install the gauges I had to do some cutting to get them to fit. But, it was really easy to do. The gauges come with the mounting brackets that work just fine to hold them in place. I kept the plastic that is behind the dash in place so I could screw the dash back in, but I had to do a bunch of trimming to that also. All in all, the mounting part was pretty easy, but the wiring is a pain, but only cause I don't know how to do it...my buddy did that part.

Very nice seat swap! I actually just picked up a set from an 02 Impala today. Gave me a good idea of how I should try to mount them. I was wondering how I could make the passenger seat still fold forward. Question for you guys tho. If a guy wanted to use the seat belt attachment on the seats, just like the Audi seat is the brackets and mounts shown here, going to be strong enough in the event of a collision? I know once you go to a full integrated seatbelt system the seat brackets need to be hugely upgraded. I did get the attachment and the rest of the seat belt stuff from the impala.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

hmmm, good question nick
I don't see the floor being strong enough, or at least the bracketry. Most of you weight, like you said, in an accident is held by the belt. Dunno

then again, the belt is only held in by one bolt on the ground, the rest is on the side, with the same kind of security.

Hey thanks...I love the seat swap, so much more comfortable with way more adjustability. Just for everyone's info, I am NOT using the seat belt that came with the Audi seats. I have since taken that attachment off and am using the stock lap belts that came with the blazer and they are attached to the reinforced stock locations. I would trust the way the seats are mounted to the floor of the blazer since they are utilizing the same mounting locations and for that matter, the same mounts (just cut and welded). But, I would not trust how I mounted the seats onto the plates that are mounted to the stock mounts...follow my drift? Either way, if I crash and roll it I am still screwed since the stock seat belts suck and I have no cage yet! Once I get the cage built, I will have some nice harnesses which will be way safer.

Hope that helps?
