Hello All!
I installed Warn hubs, replaced bearings, replaced rotors/hub assembly, and brake pads.
When drivers side hub was installed I turn the rotor and I hear a winding sound. I pulled out the hub and spun the rotor and sound goes away..
My thought is maybe I added too much grease and its turning something inside the hub..? Anyone ever have this problem? any recommendations?

If you feel everything went together well, I wouldn't worry about it right away. Put it back together and take it for a short drive, maybe to Subway for a sandwich and back. Then test it for the noise again.

As for too much grease, you really don't need much at all. Any grease NOT packed into the bearings is extra and does nothing. Same for what is on the locking hub. Very light on the greasing and they normally call for light weight grease too, but a thin layer of wheel bearing grease works fine.

Is this thing ready for wheeling? Azusa, next weekend!

just got back from a drive, freeway streets, etc.
I pulled off hub cover and all looks good.
Sound is still there. It may be that my axle is pushing too far out?
When in 4H no noise. When I was rotating the wheel if I used a crow bar to pull away the axle, sound goes away when I spin the wheel..
When Hub cover off, no noise.

I'm going to pull the whole thing apart tomorrow if I have time..

I think I found the possible issue..
I left the inner snap ring and washer in place.
Could possibly be putting too much pressure and causing the hubs to be partially engaged..
I will pull apart tomorrow and see if this fixes the issue.

also found this thread saying to remove inner snap ring..

so, to confirm #27 and 28 are not needed based on my research..

I honestly don't remember installing my warm premos. I did them on the D44 and without putting any miles on them, found a D60 and sold the 44. I run Yukon's now

Hope it's that simple a fix for ya. They don't come often enough :D

Do as they say in that link you posted of mine. Obviously it's been a while since I did the conversion, but the instructions given in that post worked for me (guess I should've posted up in that thread saying that it worked :doah: ). And don't forget to put a slight bend on the ends of the large internal snap ring to help make for easy removal next time.

Update...
I swapped my hubs for another set and noise went away...
I think the bearings were bad in the first hub..
Now that I've reinstalled these a couple times per side, I managed to swap in the new ones in 15min... drove around the block and all noise gone..

Next step, tie rods...
