I have purchased my rig with non AC type dash.. how can I convert this into AC for cooling.. shall I change my existing entire dash interior and exterior dash including drawers etc? so I can fit AC inside it.

Would someone please advice if this will work on existing dash or shall I but AC type dash with its original ac ducts

I was thinking to change the entire dash with used one of ac type and then get a fire wall layer lining put in... Will that work?

Yes, that will work fine. :)

You will also need the black A/C box, (contains evaporator) accumulator etc, from inside the engine compartment, passenger side firewall, of an original A/C truck.

Oh .. so I need the AC evaporator coil thingy which is placed inside the dash from where the cool air comes out of the dash?

In theory using used parts will work however, I have never had much luck using used parts in AC systems.

As he is in Pakistan I can't imagine he will have a lot of luck finding parts in the local junkyard. We think it's hard here because everything has been crushed. I can't imagine sourcing parts in a country where there hasn't been that many imported over the years.

naveedmerchant, that is a very clean looking rig you have there!

As Martin stated, you are talking firewall modifications, it's not just about the dash. Obviously it can all be done, but it would be a bunch of work to retrofit. Bad enough REMOVING the AC setup somewhat properly, I can't imagine trying to put it back in.

I would agree with considering an aftermarket setup. Strongly.

My main problem is that I have already installed a modified AC which has large roof mounted condenser and a powerful compressor near engine and then below the dash I have an additional large evaporator blower which almost freezes my wife to death on passenger seat... despite no firewall and desert driving .. so I am thinking I can get used or new AC type dash and install internal new high capacity evaporator cooling coil inside the dash.... and get the fire wall in place behind dash..

At later stage I want to remove the middle arm rest thingy between 2 seats and get modified arm rest which has an additional cooling coil blower to cool rear passengers... but will do that after I have completed internal mods by changing seats similar to this https://www.flickr.com/photos/46385354@N07/12262897255/in/dateposted-public/ as need to figure out how much space I have left over to place this in middle and both front and rear evaporators can be hooked onto my existing AC system...

Mine is the best K5 blazer in Pakistan and its my everyday use car.. but it sometimes gets upto 50 Celsius and I think used or new AC type dash is probably the best solution
