When installing add-a-leafs do I need to remove the clamp that holds the spring pack together or are they placed second to last in the spring pack before the axle? If I have to remove the clamps will this cause the springs to shift once back on the truck since I won't be able to reinstal the clamp? The add-a-leafs will be going on the rear of a 1990 Jimmy.

The add a leaf goes in the spring pack by the length, It needs to be between the 2 leafs that are shorter and longer, so It is still a progressive spring. It depends on who made the add a leaf on where it will go in the pack.

The leaf is made by Skyjacker and it's alot longer than I expected. If I have to remove the spring pack clamp will I have problems with the springs not staying aligned once installed back on the truck?

can't you put the clamp back on when you're done? If not, you can buy some aftermarket spring pack clamps that'll hold'em. Sometimes they'll move, sometimes they won't.

You definitely need to put one back, but that would be a good time to put one that is a little lose so it gives the spring some room to droop more.

I actually kept the stock clamps, but bent the tops upright. Keeps the pack from shifting sideways, but allows the springs to extend/compress better. I have ProComps and ran two on each side. They came with new clamps, but they didnt stay together at all and one fell off while driving, the other rusted in place before it fell off too.

Thanks for the help, I looked at the spring packs today and I think I will be able to reuse the stock clamps.
