I got a good deal on some Smittybilt nerf bars "for a Chevy truck". I bought them and now I'm trying to figure out how they are mounted. Is there a plate that needs to be welded to the frame? Or do they bolt to the frame somehow. Yes, I'm a total N00b and just figured they'd fit.

On the same note ... will 81 up bumpers bolt up to my 76 K5?

Thanks

Side note: No. 73-80 and 81-87/91 bumpers are different. They can be made to work with some fab time ... but why, when they're cheap.

I had a set of Smittybilt nerfs on my '74 K5, and they bolted to holes I had to drill on the spring hanger on one end, and a body mount, IIRC, on the other. I hate drilling 1/2" holes, especially before I had an air drill.

If your nerfs are for a pickup, you could be in for some fun. I've no idea how they mount. Welding on the frame is not something to rush into.
