installing new guages in a 88 K5

I'm looking to replace my stock guages with new ones, probably autometer of the like. I was tearing into my dash just to see what I was up against and I ran into some sort of guage back plane. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Has anyone else replaced this before? I assume (but you know how that goes) that I can just remove it and use the existing wires. Looks like I will also have to make some sort of bracket to mount all the guages to.
