1974 Blazer...parts store is showing two sizes for the lamp sockets...1/2 inch hole and 5/8 inch hole.

Which one is it? When I measure across the socket I get slightly more than 1/2 inch but not wide enogh to be 5/8 inch.

Part numbers are LS130 and LS132.

Anybody know which ones are correct? you would think a simple measure would tel you...but noooooo....they aren't exact.

Also, can you buy the clips that the instrument posts slip into?

This is easy, obviously the 5/8" wont fit since the hole isn't that big.

? got a picture, sure someone might have some laying around. I've got a bunch of instrument crap but haven't a clue just exactly what I have.

I have all the original ones and another bucket that I pulled from the parts yard...I just wondered if there was somewhere to buy new?

I am chasing that ground problem with my headlight switch and the Temp and Fuel gauge.

Figued I would replace all the lamp sockets and the printed circuit and the clips if I could find them....

I put in my new ground strap that goes from the firewall to the engine block and the problem got even worse...the gauges really move waaaay to the right when I turn on the headlight switch...I also cleaned the main harness that goes into the firewall...it was pretty nasty...so now I got clean connections and a strong ground, which apparent made the short even worse.

look above the emergency brake pedal by the firewall. It`s been along time ago.my 73 had all kinda screwy gauge readings.it was the lets call it the main ground connector for the interior.you should see a porcupine looking connector that was mounted to eitherthe firewall or dash that most of the grounds slide on to mine was corroded.I just slid the connectors off cleaned them and the ground block porkupine thingy bolt and my gauges worked again .its worth a try.

Interesting...I didn't see that when I had the instrument cluster out...I will have a closer look...man, if it would only be that easy :xmas:

The ground "bar" is located behind the cluster on the A pillar and should have probably 6 or so grounds attached to it.

Last time I was in there I just saw a single bolt with two wires....

Interesting change in ground problem...now the temp gauge pulses in unison with the turn signals...never did that before....

I still am waiting on the printed circuit that I ordered from LMC...and the lamp sockets that I ordered from RockAuto...

Figured out why the backup lights weren't working....they weren't plugged into the neutral safety switch.

Still backordered on the printed curcuit from LMC....:frown1:

i put a direct ground to one of my bolts on the back holding onto the printed circuit to the firewall.that way i knew there was a good ground goin to the instrument cluster.it works good now.

I'm assuming your rig is the 74 you have listed in your profile? If so I have a complete factory tach cluster (don't know if everything works) but I do know the printed circuit is good.

I am trying to picture that...I don't think there are any bolts on the back of mine...the lamp sockets hold the printed circuit to the cluster...I think

Mines a 72 so It may be diferent.my printed circuit is held in by the light sockets, but also by the 8 or so bolts that hold the instrument clustes together.those bolts are also holding the printed circuit and was a good place 2 put a xtra ground.
