This topic has been brought up before insurance on your off road only truck
I only ride at places like RC and paragon off road parks what are you doing for it if any I am thinking of dropping it – but what if I roll and get hurt or truck burns down the park and then house. I could be on the hook right?
What do you do and think?

I have discussed this with my agent on more then one occasion. the best advice you could get on this subject is to talk very truthfully with your insurance agent about what your wants, needs, and desires are when it comes to coverage.

I can get comprehensive insurance only for $50 per year. It will cover fire, theft, animal hits, things that are not my fault. I only looked into for the theft and maybe the fire. currently the trail truck has no coverage of any type.

obviously carrying collision on a trail vehicle is useless as you are going to dent it and collision only covers your vehicle not others. Liability is what will pay to repair other peoples vehicles damaged by yours or peoples property damaged by your truck.

Do you drive it to the trails? I trailer mine. I have comprehensive coverage on the trailer. If its stolen I'm out a couple of grand. if it catches fire its gonna cost to repair the wiring and wood deck. so for $22 a year it was a no brainer.

If you roll the truck and get hurt your personal health insurance should cover you. if you burn your house down your home owners insurance should cover it.

So after all that, my advice is talk to your insurance agent. bring up any and all scenarios that could occur. If you have a good and honest agent we will point you in the right direction.

obviously carrying collision-- i like that it covers me if i hit some one like someones towrig or a person right

and i do have a health plan but will it cover me in a rig if i roll bad??

and it is a trailer rig only - i feel it is to unsafe for the highway and have removed a lot of sheetmetel and swaybay

thats something to discuss with your health care provider.

Paragon's site does say that you need insurance, but I know from experience that lots of people run uninsured rigs there. I am one of them. I have gone out with guys in buggies, how are they supposed to insure them, they have no Vin number. The park also states in their rules

9.All SUV/4x4’s must be insured. PA State Law requires all ATV’s to be registered and insured (or conform to your States ATV Law). We are not a law enforcement agency, if you do not have what your State requires, you ride at your own risk.

this was copied directly from their site. I put the last part in red and bold but the wording is an exact copy.

This from Rausch creek site.

All street legal vehicles must be insured. All drivers must hold a valid drivers license and be covered by an automobile insurance policy. Competition rigs are welcome.

so it looks like you are driving a competition rig Ramjet. :D

costs me $525 a year in insurance and $125 for registration.....
and it has only been to the inspection station so far this year :doah:

Liability coverage will pay for property damage and bodily injury to other vehicles and people. So if you loose control in a parking lot and hit a tow rig you might have coverage.

Every company has it's own underwriting procedures, exclusions and coverages as well as individual state laws that need to be taken into consideration. I have finally realized that there is no way to get good information on a message forum.
