I have a 350 out of an 87 k30 that i will be picking up in a few weeks hopefully and got a few questions:

Would an edelbrock performer with offroad needle/seat or quadrajet be a better choice? truck currently has an edelbrock performer on the factory 305

Also would a holley intake that is on the 87 motor or edelbrock peformer intake from my 305 modified for the later heads be a better a choice? I learn towards the performer only because I've seen it work well on two trucks and know nothing about holley intakes.

Q-Jet all the way, for a stocker more important than the intake mannifold. Ebrock Performer, wouldn't go performer rpm for a stocker. Haven't much noticed a performance change in cast iron or performer, but that's with a stock 350. Well, except for the weight of course, holy crap what a difference. Q-Jets are great off-road carbs, extremely tunable, better performance and mpg. More difficult to work on and tune, but even a novice can grab a book and have at it with little to no troubles. Best thing about a Q-Jet is you can take it off a 305 and put it on a 350, then a 383, 400, ...etc. Depending on your engine, few needle changes and you're ready to go. They're huge CFM, but only use what the engine needs.

Not gospel, just my choice in what I would do.

Okay quadrajet it is. Is there one type that is better than another? Electric choke,Manual, Divorced?

If the '87 V30 is being parted out, you should see if you can get the TBI set up as well. EFI would be better than any of the carburetor choices.

That's too bad. I would still suggest looking for a junkyard TBI set up.

75-85 Quadrajet out of a truck is what i would look for. I got one that is from an 85 federal emissions truck and it works great after a rebuild.

That's what the Jimmy came with, M4MED. Wish I still had it, but got rid of it and put the Ebrock 1406 on it, cause the baseplate was cracked at the brake booster fitting.

Yeah baseplates can be had cheap. Check ebay. I found mine for $16 bucks and have about $50 in it total with shipping, rebuild and initial cost of the carb.
