I know I can be retarded but seriously am I missing something here? I put the edelbrock oval port intake on my 468 and the pass rear bolt holes don't even line up. When I had the rectangular port intake on all the bolt holes lined up but barely. The intake is brand new never been run and I put new gaskets in. What am i missing here? Is this a screw up on my part, is the intake just not the right part or are the heads machined wrong?

This is the gap between the intake/block on the front of the motor.

Am I using too thin of gaskets? All of the bolt holes on the drivers side line up perfectly. The front half of the bolt holes on the pass side line up good but the rear ones are way off. Can anyone help me understand what is going on with this thing?

it looks like the intake needs to go down. i would ditch those front and rear rubber gaskets and run a bead of rtv there instead. then you can shove the intake down until the bolts will start.

That is common if the heads and or block have been machined. What you'll need to determine is if the angle between the front of the block (where the front of the intake meets the block) and heads (intake port side) is the same as the intake manifold port side to the surface that would meet up with the front of the block. If those angles are the same then you need to start the center intake bolts first and slightly tighten them down until you can get the rest of the bolts in. Like was already said, use a 3/8" bead of silicone instead of the rubber end gaskets.

Try to take all the gaskets off, (I assume the surfaces are clean) then see what kind of matchup you have. The intake should sit even with the bolt holes in the heads or just slightly below them. The gap on your end seals should be roughly 1/8" when bolted down.
