what are these tubes for ? there on the deep side of the duel plane intake from the factory on my 366 bbc engine for the dump truck . they just pop in and out with the carb off .

the 1988 intake with egr did not have them but was machined for them .
the early 80's intake i am using is non egr and has them .

are they to help equalize runner lengths for low end power or something ?

According to my dad, when I pulled on of those engines apart to see what failed, those were added because the fuel moved so slow it would drop out of the air and run like crap at idle.

So yes, was to keep it atomized at low rpm. Which is about all those engines did.

ha ha ha ya there low to mid rpm is all . 3200 - 3400 rpm factory gov in them .

this one is getting un corked with a reg hei dist and edelbrock carb .
