I have searched and found lots of info. I have an unanswered question. In the real world how do the sidewalls hold up? I will opt for the ten ply tire but they all have only 2ply sides.

So will I regret the SSR or are they a good tire?

I don't know about the SSR's but if
IIRC the swamper SX's have 4ply sidewalls. I had a set a few years ago and wish I could afford some more. They wrere great tires, the only thing was that they would get flat-spots after sitting awhile and it would take several miles before they would smooth out and stop bouncing.

I ran them for 2 years...they held up well.
I didn't like them in the mud, but on rocks...I had traction.

I'm not sure if I'd buy anouther, they're noisy of the street..too.

i had a of 37's ssr radials on my sas'd 4dr tahoe.

rode nice, were still noisey, wore really well, but like stated above
didnt do all thatwell in mud but good in rocks/trails
and were awesome at 12psi in the sand dunes.never had a sidewall
or tread failure of anykind.

i've been daily driving my blazer on 37" 10 ply ssr's for about 4 years. they've held up great, actually still quiet and smooth. still have some decent tread left.

i am on 2 years for my 38 ssr's

i had a real bad accident with my first pickup about a year ago, resulted in flipping it at about 65mph

on the side of the highway before getting in the ambulance, one tire was debeaded, one was flat and the other 2 were still good

i didnt see it, but my truck had to be winched from the side of the road from somewhere in the front frame, most likely ripping up the tires and such, it was dragged onto a flatbed, i lost alot

one tire was still beaded and inflated, one tire was fine but the rim had a big dent, one tire was completly debeaded and the tire had a ripped inner bead and is unsafe to drive on besides as a spare for like 10 miles, and the last tire had a sidewall slash which looked like a short deep gash, like somthing stabbed it and it didnt hold air and the rim was tweaked

but i bought 1 rim and 2 new tires, and am currently running them on my burb, the 2 tires that went thru hell are working great, they have gashes and scars, but are fine

i think mine went through ALOT, and under normal use these tires are great, i have never had a problem off road, they are great on the road, in rain they get kind of slippery, snow they are great, they have been good in mud for me and awesome on the rocks

im about to pick up a set of the 37s in the ten ply flavor, anyone think they ride "heavy" or can you tell theyre a thick tire?
and quit posting that pic! it kills us when you do, my condolences.

Well thanks for the info guys. I picked up a set of five new 37/12.5 last night. The ten ply load rated ones. $500 and they still have the stickers on them. Time to cut down the runflats and get them mounted.

Thanks again.
