Ran by a parts yard near where I work today at lunch, found a '78 C10 with this grille guard. Never seen one like it before, thought y'all might get a kick out of it. Don't need it since I have an order coming from DIY4X, but I really like it and am contemplating going back for it.

From touching it I don't see how it would offer any protection from anything, not to mention the HUGE gaps between the bars. Still think it looks interesting.

Thanks for snapping the shot....I got to where I take my camera every time I go to parts yard cause you never know what you will see....:D

wasn't going to reply to this thread, but I like this post. I'll agree. The junkyard I go to is close enough that I can run home and grab a camera for the REALLY rare or interesting stuff.

thanks:waytogo:

My grandpa had a 78' dually with a 454 a long time ago. Had some kind of tow package on it and it had that same grill gaurd. Ft. Worth isn't too far from me either.

Something seems different, I just can't put my finger on it...

And the patch job where it all used to be

Just another shot, and the trans shifter was still pointed to the left side of the vehicle

^^Wish you got a picture of the steering gearbox. My wife comes with me to the junkyard with her digital camera. Just because she loves taking pics of all the crazy stuff we see there

Yea I was thinking the same thing, unfortunately everything on the front end was already taken off. However the drag link/tie rod assembly was still in tact, and where the pitman arm attaches to the drag link was still on the drivers side (it was a 2wd C20). So I have no idea how they rigged it up.

We had a guy on CK5 from Australia a while back with an RHD Blazer, though it would have been 4WD (i.e. I donno how the 2WD ones were done.) If memory serves, the steering box was the same one we get here but was mounted on the *outside* of the passenger side frame inside a box that then mounted to the frame. I'm not gonna say "hack job" as it was apparently safe enough to pass their government inspection, and was done by a nominally professional conversion company, but I doubt it would stand up to any off-road use.
