I have made single channel gadgets like this one before to try to find noises. But I don't think I ever used one on a vehicle.
I did mount a small video camera with sound under a car once to find a squeak that only occurred on cold mornings for the first few minutes.
I have seen the day when I might have spent that much to find a rattle or noise, but it does not seem as urgent as it used to.
Of course, it depends on the noise.
As I mentioned here before, back when I was younger and even more stupid, I tied myself up under my Jeep and had a friend drive around a parking lot to locate a noise.
In fact, did it twice, because it turned out I was facing the wrong way the first time.

You tied yourself under a Jeep?

That's crazy. We did much more sensible stuff. Like ratchet straps ourselves to skateboards.

Course thats only after we found out creepers wheels aren't really speed rated

used them before for work and there great!!! Thinking ordering my own set since work now does not have them and can also use them to chase noises on K5 and figure out things before asking here on CK5 when it's hard to diagnose a noise through the net.

There is a reason why that exact setup is a required too for GM dealers. They work!

Those saved a customer from a trans rebuild. Found external issues instead of other shops condemning the trans.

Had a friend just show up with his Camry. 3 guys have tried to find the noise coming from the front end. Maybe I need one of these.
