Has anyone tried to convert a work truck interior to a cloth interior, l'm working on a 1991 crew cab and was a plain truck and wanting to put 1991 suburban interior in it and looks to be extra sheetmetal like in the roof and in between the front and rear doors, doesnt look like enough room for all the headliner and all the plastic trim, anyone????

i dont know all the technical terms but i think you would be better off using backing board and covering it in whatever color cloth interior you wanted.

don't know about the crewcab/suburban, but I converted my 83 C10 reg. cab from a bare interior to full load--even installed factory A/C, cut the firewall to fit etc.
It was all a direct fit from the donor truck(s)
For the headliner I tore out the old cloth, sprayed the molded piece with spray on contact cement, then carefully worked the new cloth on, starting at center and working toward the edges to avoid wrinkles.

Got any pics? I was working on this in the '91 I had also. Most of the parts will interchange but the headliner and plastic trim pieces will have to mounted to some areas without the extra backing. You will need to look at one without all of the trim in place to see what I am talking about.
What color are you trying to get. Mine was a blue interior and I still have some of the small things if you are needing them.

l have been wanting to take some pic's but dont know how to post them anyway, and my interior is blue also, l wanted the interior from a newer crewcab in the dark grey or black leather but never could find it, exterior is silver, filled the roof farmer lights, 4" cowl hood, added a 8" softride lift and some type 33 centerlines and 38" boggers, 383 stroker, th350, 205 with 4.56 pumpkins, l bought a cummins engine to put in it now but know if l will go to all the trouble now, thanks for the advise

I am working on this in my Crew cab too. I just found a truck on craigslist today that had all the trim pieces and headliner foam. I am going to paint the trim and cover the headliner foam in a charcoal microsuede.
I will also be able to put more sound deadening behind the trim and headliner now. I have even concidered drilling a few holes in the ceiling to inject some soft expanding foam for additional sound deadening (since the holes will be covered by the new headliner)

Check on that foam filler thing. I remember some old posts of that being used and caused the metal to rust quicker from the inside out. Something like within a year or two because it held in moisture. Like I said I am not sure though.

I plan on covering the whole roof with sound deadener so it should help keep moisture out.
